• 04/26/07 Fern C. Loeb, nee Feldman, born May 3, 1928, in Chicago, IL, passed away at Evanston Hospital on April 24, 2007 of complications from Cancer. Fern (daughter of the late Max and Ethel) grew up on the North side of Chicago and graduated from Sullivan High School and attended the University of Illinois. She was a stay at home mom for several years in Deerfield, IL and for the last 35 years sold Residential Real Estate on the North Shore. Fern was truly adored by her family and friends for her humor, feisty way and zest for life. She is survived by her children, Robert Loeb and Susan Loeb (Laurence Stanton); her daughter-in-law Jane Liechty; her four grandchildren Sara Loeb, Charlie, Matt and Cate Stanton; and her brother Donald Feldman DVM (Elizabeth Stockstill); dear aunt of Andrew, Douglas, Julia and Mitchell Feldman. Services will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m. at Weinstein Funeral Home North Shore Chapel, 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette. Interment Westlawn Cemetery, Norridge. • 04/13/07 Lois D. Crowley of Hoffman Estates Mass of Christian burial for Lois D. Crowley (nee Davis), 83, will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at St. Anne Church, corner of Franklin and Ela streets, Barrington, where she will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass. Father Fred Licciardi will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 West Main St. (Lake Cook Rd.), Barrington. Born Oct. 24, 1924, in Duquesne, Pa., she passed away, Friday, April 13, 2007, at her home. Lois was a real estate agent and broker for Remax, Century 21, and Baird & Warner for over 30 years. She was very dedicated to her job and strived to help others in the real estate field. Lois also enjoyed dogs, bird watching, and most of all spending time with her family. Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Arnold and Lisa (Charles) Rodger; one son, Christopher (Marilyn) Crowley; and seven grandchildren. For information 847-381-3411.

• 08-01-05 Dear Friends,   Jan wanted me to let you know that Fiona Schakowsky, the beloved wife of her
  son Ian, died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 31.  She had courageously
  fought colorectal cancer for nearly a year.  She was 38 years old, the
  mother of Eve, 5 1/2, and William, nearly 4.  Her parents,  David and
  Pauline Boulton, arrived from England in time to be with her, and, along
  with Ian, were present as she passed away.
  
  Her memorial service will be on Tuesday, August 2 at 2 p.m. at Weinstein's
  funeral home, 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette.  (One block north of Old Orchard.)
  
  In lieu of flowers, a donation in her honor to your favorite charity would

• 07-08-05 Justine Kahn passed away today.  There will be no services or donations.  Justine was a huge force in the real estate industry and headed the extremely successful real estate firm, Kahn Realty.  She was a trainer for years at the North Shore orientation class.  She will be missed by many.
  
• 06-01-05 George Olson - George's son, John, called last night to say that George passed away yesterday.  He had been in a coma after a series of mini strokes, and was on a breathing machine while they tried to figure out if there was a treatment for the strokes.  After talking it over with people in palliative care and knowing George's wishes not to be kept alive on machinery, they removed the breathing machine.  He died five ours later, quietly.  John said he would keep us informed about services, and I told him I would let you know.  He did say he was calling other people, so I don't know if any of you may already know this. As George said, he had a a great run of luck, but his luck ran out.

• 03-08-05 (mother of Terry Penza), Mary Lou Penza, 78, of Jacksonville died Tuesday morning, March 8, 2005 at Barton W. Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville. She was born March 3, 1927 in Virginia, IL the daughter of Horace and Mary Hamilton Clark. She married Vincent DePaul Penza on June 17, 1947 in Virginia, IL and he preceded her in death on August 20, 1999. She is survived by one son, Mark Penza of San Luis Obispo, CA; 3 daughters, Terese Penza of Vernon Hills, Elizabeth (husband, James) Monk of Ponchatoula, LA and Kathryn (husband, Mark) Thompson of Jacksonville; 9 grandchildren, Justin Michael Penza, Arian Marie Macari, Tabatha Monk, Cassy Hughes, Brandon Monk, Tara Hughes, Seth Hughes, Joshua Monk and Nicholas Thompson; 4 great-grandchildren, Miranda Alexis Macari, Molly Ann Macari, Ty Anthony Monk and Abigail Lynn Monk; one brother, John Maston (wife, Lois) Clark of rural Jacksonville; one sister, Ruby Clark (husband, Nelson) Willingham of Paris, MO. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Lou Penza and two brothers, Robert Donald (surviving wife, Roberta of Urbana) Clark and Ralph Hamilton Clark. Mrs. Penza was a homemaker. She was member of the Church of Our Saviour and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. • 01-03-05 Lynn Rogers Lackie, passed away peacefully on New Years morning after a long illness. She was born in Chicago and spent most of her life in Lake Forest, IL. She moved to Arizona in 2001. She is survived by her loving husband, Gordon; son John S. Burchmore (Jill) of Telluride, CO; daughter Anne B. Mies (Jeff) of Apple Valley, MN; three grandchildren Jake and Leland Burchmore and Margaret Mies; sister Anne R. Lockhart (David) of Lake Bluff, IL; brother Tom Rogers (Nancy) of Chicago, IL; niece and nephews Blair, Read and Andrea Lockhart; five stepchildren, Mel Lackie, Scott Lackie (Lura), Jeff Lackie (Ann), Bob Lackie (Lucy), Lori Lemme (Pete); and many stepgrandchildren. Lynn was a graduate of Lake Forest College. She had a very successful career with Griffith, Grant and Lackie Realtors. She was an active member of the North Shore Board of Realtors and served on many committees. Lynn was a devoted and caring woman who valued laughter, with and a sense of humor. Her door was always open to those who wanted to visit. Her heart remains open and listening when we need her now. She will be remembered often and fondly, with a story and smile. Services in Tucson will be private. There will be services held in Lake Forest at a later date.

• Marcia Leekley passed away while she was in Florida with her caretaker. Marcia Leekley's Memorial Service will be Thursday, December 11 at 4:30pm at Kenilworth Union Church, 211 Kenilworth Ave., Kenilworth. A reception will follow at the Skokie Country Club.

• Connie Conway's mom passed away on Saturday.  The funeral was private and a memorial service is planned for sometime in the future.

• John Fischer, a fixture of the North Shore real estate market who served as appraiser for 60 + years, passed away on Sunday. Visitation will be at Donnellan Funeral Home on Skokie Boulevard on Wednesday 2/18 from 4pm to 8 pm and the funeral will take place at 1 pm at Northminster Church on Central Park in Evanston on Thursday 2/19.
